Mrs. Brugger began her career with major insurers in the area of claims adjusting. After 10 years as an employee of insurance companies, she obtained a license to act as an independent adjuster. She has been an independent adjuster for over 20 years. After the inception of OMPP, Mrs. Brugger spent over 10 years of her career as an independent adjuster concentrating on the area of accident benefit claims. However, her career diversified and she has investigated all areas of property and casualty claims. She has also investigated and reported on behalf of prominent NGO's.
Mrs. Brugger has maintained a high profile among her peers having served on the Executive of the Ontario Insurance Adjusters Association and held the position of editor for the trade journal "Without Prejudice".
Over the years Karen has continued with expanding her knowledge and education by participating in various training programs, courses and seminars such as Environmental Law through the Canadian Institute, community college courses including WHIMIS, Building Plan Reading, Ontario Building Code, Accounting Principals and Alternative Dispute Resolution. Many seminars pertain to Accident Benefits legislative changes, but include Forensic Accounting, CGL update, Head Injuries and Chronic Pain. In addition, she completed ten speeches through Toastmasters International.
Karen has also completed her training for her Private Pilot License, obtained her Legal Assistant Diploma, received accreditation as a Certified Fire & Explosion Investigator and is a Commissioner for Taking Oaths in Ontario.
